childbirth class, it is important to select a class that supports

The Childbirth Education
classes are held at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation. The classes are
held in the evenings over a 12 week period. The cost is $160.00.

The Bradley Approach:
A series of twelve
weekly sessions, with limited enrollment to ensure personal
attention, educating through instruction, discussion, labor
practice, communication exercises, and birth films.
Bradley classes cover a variety of
topics:
- Anatomy and
physiology of pregnancy and birth
- Sound
nutrition: the foundation of a healthy pregnancy
- Exercises that
ease the discomfort of pregnancy and prepare you for birth
- The
relationship between the emotional and physical aspects of labor
and birth
- Effective ways
to avoid unnecessary pain
- Supportive
coaching techniques to empower the couple to cope with labor and
birth
- Methods to
enhance relaxation
- Benefits and
risks of, and alternatives to, commonly used interventions and
medications
- Avoidance of
unnecessary surgery and options for a family-centered caesarean
birth
- Communication
with health care providers
- Basic
breast-feeding education
- Postpartum
preparations and basic infant care
